Nominations for Hugo de Vries prize best PhD thesis 2025
The Stichting Hugo de Vries Fonds and the Koninklijke Nederlandse Botanische Vereniging annually award the Hugo de Vries Prijs for the best dissertation (and process leading up to it) with a botanical subject defended at a Dutch University. The prize consists of €5000 and an accompanying award. The Hugo de Vries prize covers ‘botany’ in the broadest sense, including, but not restricted to, taxonomy, ecology, plant pathology, experimental plant science, agronomy, and palaeoecology. If you (co)supervised a thesis defended in 2025, we kindly invite you to nominate your candidate before February 1 2026 by:
- filling out the nomination form.
- sending the form and a digital version of the thesis to mans.schepers@rug.nl
If your nomination is considered admissible (normally the case), you may be asked to send three hardcopy versions at a later stage.
